Pakistan All Out for 154 as Warrican Dismantles Home Side with Four-Wicket Haul
Multan Cricket Stadium: Pakistan bundled out on 154 after the home team could not take advantage on two days of the final and second match against West Indies at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
The home team suffered an ugly run following their defeat to West Indies with their spin attack, led by Noman Ali and Sajid Khan.
Only five batters scored in double figures, and Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel had a major impact with scores of 29 and 32, respectively. However, they lost to Jomel Warrican.
Warrican took four wickets, and Gudakesh Motie eliminated three Pakistani batters. Kemar Roach picked up two scalps as the home team could finish on 154 and fell nine runs of an advantage against the West Indies.
In the previous innings, Noman took six wickets for 41 runs. Sajid Khan was dismissed for two for 64, and Kashif Ali and Abrar Ahmed picked up one wicket to take 16 and 24 wickets, respectively.
The tailenders of the visitors were the most destructive, as Gudakesh Motie scored 55 points, unbeaten Jomel Warrican scored 36, and Kemar Roach scored 25. Other than that, the only other player, Kavem Hodge (21), made it to the double figures.
The day started with the visitors choosing the first bat on a wicket suited to spin, which was the place Pakistan won in the previous Test, helped by spinners who excelled in the current.
Seven Windies players, including captain Kraigg Brathwaite, could not hit double digits despite the incredible bowling force of spinners Noman, Sajid and Abrar.
Hodge and Motie’s tandem brought the first short relief for those Men in Maroon as they added vital runs to the scoreboard.
Noman could also score his hat-trick in the 12th over, removing Justin Greaves (1), Tevin Imlach (0) and Kevin Sinclair (0).
Pakistan is leading the two-match series by 1-0 after sweeping the first Test in Multan by 127 runs, giving the debut to 30-year-old fast bowler Kashif to replace Khurram Shahzad.
The West Indies removed injured Jayden Seales to accommodate the experienced player Kemar Roach. Amir Jangoo will be playing his first Test following the replacement of Keacy Carty.
It is part of the World Cricket Championship’s third cycle, with Pakistan placing eighth and the West Indies ninth and last.
In a press conference held at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Friday, West Indies captain Brathwaite declared that the team was determined to come back to win the next Test in Pakistan to even the series.
Brathwaite highlighted the need for his team to display determination and faith despite the obstacles presented by the spin-friendly pitches. Brathwaite said the team is determined to achieve a better score this time.
