Saud: Pakistan Aims to Post Big Totals in Upcoming Matches
Multan: Pakistan vice-captain Saud Shakeel on Thursday emphasized the importance of hitting with a big-score mentality as the team prepares in preparation for their second test with West Indies in Multan.
“In Test cricket, the most crucial aspect is putting up big scores, and our approach will be focused on building a substantial total and executing the tasks assigned to us [for the match],” Saud said to journalists at the Multan Cricket Ground during a practice session.
Shan Masood, captain of the Pakistan team, took the first Test and also played at Multan with a score of 127. will enter the Multan Cricket Stadium today to play the second Test.
Reminiscing about his performance, left-handed batters expressed their desire to play a role in the team’s achievement.
“I aim to aid the team in winning by delivering my best. Rankings are crucial, and having a place in the top 10 ranks is a gratifying accomplishment, but the most important is the team’s success,” the 29-year-old remarked.

The batter also stressed the difficulty of playing on tracks.
“The pitch [in the first Test] here in Multan was very challenging for batters; however, it was also an opportunity for improvement. Excellent players are made by playing on such pitches. I believe that the cricket we play in our country should be able to offer more pitches like these to help players prepare more efficiently,” he added.
Saud praised the team’s atmosphere after their victory in the opening Test match: ” The dressing room atmosphere after the first win is fantastic.”

“Our openers can perform, and when they get the opportunity, they will deliver,” He added.
Saud admitted that facing the brand-new ball on tracks that are suited to speed was a challenging task.
“The brand new ball can be a challenge, particularly on grassy pitches, and requires the right technique and concentration. We’re ready to face these issues in the coming Test match,” said the coach.
‘WI TO FOCUS ON NATURAL GAME’
In the meantime, West Indies batter Alick Athanaze stressed the importance of being flexible and focusing on the team’s strengths ahead of the second Test at Multan.
“It is about analyzing the game and the conditions. The team will begin the second Test in a natural gameplay and make adjustments as required,” Athanaze said while speaking to the journalists at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
Reminiscing about the team’s challenges in the opening Test 26,-year-old Athanaze acknowledged the tense nature of the field in Multan.
“This type of wicket doesn’t suit my style of play. The batsmanship here was extremely difficult, and the credit should be awarded to Nauman [Ali] and Sajid Khan for interpreting the conditions well and using them to their advantage,” the southpaw explained.
He also praised his team’s effort during the opener of the series.
“I do not think Pakistan batted extremely well. I think we bowled well and posed difficulties for them to face,” he said, noting that the performance on the pitch was most important.
