Dog, Donkey, and Frog Meat Reportedly Being Sold Across Pakistan
Aimal Wali, leader of the Awami National Party (ANP), said that meat from dogs, donkeys, and frogs is being sold in different parts of the country, which raises concerns about food safety.
Wali said harmful and substandard goods, like plastic rice and tampered-with milk, are easy to find on the market, putting people’s health at risk. He said this at a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on National Food Security.
He said that the country’s milk production only accounts for 22% of the milk people drink. The other 78% is a white liquid tampered with by chemicals.
“The milk people in the country drink is mostly made in a lab and is full of dangerous chemicals,” he said.
Concerns made about the quality of foodSenator Dinesh Kumar agreed with the worries and said there are no checks and balances on the quality of the rice people eat. “There is no way to check if the rice people are eating is safe,” he said, stressing how important it is to change the rules immediately.
In response to these shocking discoveries, the committee set up a subcommittee to develop policies to improve the country’s food security and ensure strict checks on food quality standards.
It’s important to note that these claims have been made before. At the time, Shehryar Afridi was the Interior Minister. In 2018, he said goat, dog, and even pork meat were being sold in some parts of Islamabad. Experts say these practices have survived because food safety rules are not strictly monitored and enforced.
