Pakistan and Azerbaijan Strengthen Economic Partnership for Growth
ISLAMABAD, 27 JAN: The Federal Minister of Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, and Azerbaijan’s Ambassador in Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, attended a crucial meeting to boost economic ties between the two nations.
The discussions focused on the preparations for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Azerbaijan, which was announced on Monday.
In highlighting the importance of people-to-people connections to encourage investment and trade, The conference also stressed the necessity of implementing agreements promptly, of agreements.
The Ambassador also discussed plans to create the Azerbaijan Trade House in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi.
The Minister has suggested that a Business-to-Business (B2B) event be held during the Prime Minister’s visit to Azerbaijan, which will be followed by a single-country exhibition in Azerbaijan later in the year, perhaps in July, to determine the impact of the PTA.
The Ambassador supported the business delegation and suggested opening the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
To explore trade opportunities, Minister Jam Kamal Khan suggested importing cotton from Azerbaijan to process in Pakistan to export top-quality garments to Cambodia.
The Ambassador offered to link Pakistan with the top Azerbaijani cotton producers and highlighted trade opportunities in agriculture and technology that would benefit both countries.
Each side celebrated the double-digit trade volume increase compared to the previous year and stressed the need to build upon the momentum.
The Minister urged Azerbaijan to participate in the forthcoming Foodag event in Lahore. The Ambassador reaffirmed the country’s commitment to establishing solid trade and investment relations by sharing contacts with prominent companies.
The meeting ended with a shared pledge to reach successful outcomes and establish the Trade House and Chamber of Commerce as the cornerstones of trade relations between the two countries.
This partnership is a significant step towards enhancing Pakistan-Azerbaijan’s economic relations. Both countries are looking to build long-term relationships and explore.
