Imran Khan Refuses to Leave Country or Seek NRO, Confirms PTI
Shaukat Yousafzai, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has expressed his dissatisfaction with the government’s management of the ongoing political negotiations, accusing it of imbuing the discussions with a “NRO-like” quality. He urged the government to take a more serious approach to resolving the country’s economic and political crises.
In an interview with reporters, the former provincial minister underscored the necessity of meaningful dialogue to guide Pakistan through its present obstacles. Yousafzai expressed her desire to engage in conversation to alleviate the nation’s economic and political difficulties, cautioning that the government’s lack of commitment could jeopardize the negotiation process.Criticizing federal ministers for their “irresponsible and unnecessary statements,” he deemed them counterproductive to the negotiations. “These statements reflect a lack of commitment and are beyond comprehension,” he continued.
Yousafzai accused the government of undermining the negotiation process by preventing the PTI’s negotiation committee from meeting with party founder Imran Khan in prison. “PTI is being denied this fundamental right, even though the government’s negotiation team is free to consult its leader at any time.” He claimed that this demonstrates the government’s apprehension and malice.Yousafzai also expressed her disappointment with the ongoing postponement of the £190 million case, referring to it as a “setback for the justice system.” He encouraged the government to maintain the separation of judicial matters from political negotiations and to refrain from interfering with the judicial process.
In a statement reaffirming the PTI’s stance, Yousafzai said Imran Khan would not accept any form of NRO, shift to Bani Gala, or abandon the country. He said, “Our leader will demonstrate his innocence through the judicial system.”Yousafzai further cautioned that the PTI may resort to a civil disobedience movement if the discussions fail to yield results, which would present additional challenges for the government.
Upon concluding his remarks, Yousafzai encouraged the government to prioritize constructive dialogue and exert control over its ministers. He stated, “A mature, serious approach is necessary to resolve the current crises, as the country’s future is contingent upon these discussions.”
