Trump Slams California Leaders as ‘Incompetent’ Over Fire Response
LOS ANGELES: On Sunday (Jan 12), President-elect Donald Trump criticized California officials for their ineffective management of the devastating wildfires surrounding Los Angeles.
“The fires continue to rage in LA. The incompetent politicians have no clue how to extinguish them,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

“This is one of the most severe disasters in our nation’s history. They simply can’t put out the fires. What is their problem?” he stated.
The rapid spread and severity of the fires affecting Los Angeles have tested the city’s firefighting capabilities and sparked concerns and criticisms about the state’s readiness.

Hydrants ran out of water in the Pacific Palisades area as it faced one of five separate fires in the region, while water shortages also hindered efforts in other locations.
With just over a week until his return to the White House, Trump has made a series of unfounded accusations against California’s Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom, alleging failures in managing the fires.

In response, Newsom has invited Trump to visit Los Angeles and witness the destruction alongside him.
The wildfires have thus far resulted in at least 16 fatalities, displaced 150,000 people, and destroyed over 12,000 buildings, according to state authorities.
“Thousands of beautiful homes are lost, and many more will be at risk soon. There is death everywhere,” Trump remarked in his post.

Despite the brave efforts of firefighters, including precise operations by aerial crews, the Palisades Fire has continued to advance east towards the invaluable collections of the Getty Center art museum and north to the densely populated San Fernando Valley.
