Rapper Xzibit Reveals Unseen Side of Chaotic Shooting with Big Pun
During an interview with Bootleg Kev on the REAL 92.3 show, rapper Xzibit recently told a vivid and detailed story about a crazy event involving the late Big Pun, whose real name was Christopher Lee Rios. The story is about a crazy night at the beginning of their careers when Xzibit, Big Pun, and the Terror Squad were shot on their first promotional tour in 1996.
Xzibit remembered that he and Big Pun traveled the East Coast in 1996 on the tour for Xzibit’s first album, “At the Speed of Life.” They did this in two different buses. Before the show, it was just another night on the road. But things turned violent when someone in the crowd fired a gun into the air. Later, shots were fired at both of their cars. Xzibit called what happened “crazy” and said that the group had to plan a way to escape quickly. He said, “We had to do this secret operation to get everyone on the bus and get out of there.” It was like they shot up the cars and everything. It was wild. There was never a dull moment. The group got away from the crime scene without any more problems, but things got even more tense when they returned to the hotel and found that concertgoers were actively looking for them. Xzibit said that this is what led to the killing.
During the conversation, Xzibit talked about how close he is to Big Pun and remembered when they started working together. In one famous story, Big Pun’s bus broke down while he was on a trip with his family. This caused Pun and his family to join Xzibit on his bus, which led to even more chaos. It was clear to Xzibit that the night would be busy, but he had no idea how serious it would get.Xzibit said that Pun’s family called for a car because they didn’t like how crowded the bus was. When the car arrived, a rude person drove a sedan, worsening things. Things quickly got worse, and when the car driver got angry, the Terror Squad stepped in to help.
Later that same day, someone in the crowd threw something at Boobie, the Boxer, and the Terror Squad performers during a show. This led to a fight. There was a fight because of this, and during the chaos, a team member is said to have pulled out a gun and fired it into the air. The moment was precise in Xzibit’s mind: “Someone on the team pulls out a gun and fires it right into the air.” Bow! This jerk took it out of a suitcase in the middle of the show!”
As things worsened, Xzibit and his co-manager tried to return to their buses, but the cops were already there. The person who is thought to have shot someone threw the gun into a dumpster to get rid of it. Because there wasn’t any trash in the dumpster, though, the gun went off, which called the cops and handcuffed everyone, including Xzibit. While being held, Xzibit and his team were freed and returned to the hotel. When they returned, they saw that people at the show were still looking for the Terror Squad. This made the artists try to get away in their tour buses. This, according to Xzibit, led to the claimed shooting that happened on the buses.
