Govt Aims for $25bn IT Export Target in 5 Years
The government aims to reach $25 billion in IT exports over the next five years.
Strategies to boost IT exports and foster the digital economy were assessed during a review meeting led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Participants expressed approval of the initiatives proposed to achieve the $25 billion target for IT exports in the coming five years.
Officials updated the gathering on plans to grow the number of freelancers from 1.4 million to 2 million within two years. Additionally, it was conveyed that more than 300,000 individuals would receive training through the digital skills program by June 2025.
The meeting included a review of the advancements made in the national AI policy. Officials indicated that consultations were still in progress and that the policy would be ready for approval next month. Additionally, the premier instructed the authorities to ease the right-of-way regulations further to promote the growth of broadband services. “We must prioritize IT training for young individuals to help them secure job opportunities abroad,” stated PM Shehbaz. The prime minister called for developing a thorough strategy to market Pakistan’s IT sector effectively. “Enhancing the IT infrastructure is essential to boost national exports,” asserted PM Shehbaz.
