Punjab Govt Approves Rs62B for Apni-Chhat Apna Ghar Housing Program
LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz of Punjab has sanctioned 62 billion rupees for the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” (Own Roof, Own House) initiative.
While presiding over a special meeting regarding the program on Sunday, she established a goal of distributing 40,000 loans by May and urged a prompt completion of the loan distribution process. CM Maryam Nawaz also directed the relevant authorities to consider increasing the loan amounts from 1.5 million to 2 million rupees. This initiative is designed to provide financial support to disadvantaged families in Punjab, assisting them in acquiring their own homes.
The chief minister reiterated her intention for every homeless person to possess their shelter, stating that homeownership is a fundamental right for every individual. During the briefing, it was reported that approximately 5,000 individuals throughout Punjab have already obtained loans through the program. Additionally, more than 4,200 houses are progressing toward completion under this effort. Importantly, the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) and the Punjab Housing and Urban Development departments are working together to offer pre-constructed homes to eligible families as part of this initiative.
