PTI Won’t Join Govt for Mere Photo Ops: Barrister Gohar
ISLAMABAD Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar has declared that his party will not be able to participate in talks with the government to hold “photo sessions” if a commission is not established.
The president of the Judicial Complex interviewed the media on Saturday. He disclosed that PTI gave an administration seven days to decide if a commission would be set up.
“The commission was to decide on the inclusion of judges and the terms of reference (TORs), but the government’s inaction clearly indicates they lack the intent to form it,” Gohar claimed.

Gohar expressed discontent with PTI’s “injustices” PTI faced, saying the PTI’s mandate was forged and recalling instances of unlawful legal actions against the PTI, including charges of terrorism against several lawyers.
He also highlighted how PTI, under Imran Khan’s direction, has been able to conduct negotiations with integrity despite several reservations.
“Our founder had called for talks on two demands, showing great openness by initiating the first committee himself,” he explained. But, he said the absence of a response from the government was a sign of its lack of willingness to participate in meaningful discussions.

However, Gohar stressed the need for real action, stating that PTI would like constructive discussions with all political parties but would not compromise on its fundamental demands.
The Imran Khan-led political group “called off” the negotiation process on Thursday because of “non-cooperation” of the government and delays in the establishment of a judicial commission that will examine the May 9, 2023, violent protests, as well as the police crackdowns on protesters of the party in Islamabad on November 26 last year.
A few days later, The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led federal government announced they would keep the dialogue going. However, they were not willing to plead with the ruling party of the past to restart discussions.
