PTI to Present Written Demands to Govt on January 16: Barrister Gohar
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar mentioned that the current discussions mirror those taking place with the government and that they will submit two written requests to the government on January 16.
As reported by Express News, while addressing the media outside Adiala Jail, Barrister Gohar noted that judges sometimes postpone their decisions because they require additional time to draft them. “We were informed yesterday that a ruling would be made,” he added.
He also stated that Imran Khan was instructed to be present at 9 AM, and he would make an appearance as soon as his legal representatives arrived. “Since my time in this jail, no trial has commenced before 11 AM,” Barrister Gohar commented. He underscored that no agreement was taking place. “If such an agreement occurred, we would not keep it from the public. The discussions are identical to those with the government.”
When questioned about the recent discussion between the Army Chief and Ali Amin Gandapur, Barrister Gohar noted that such meetings are frequent, primarily concerning law and order issues, and that it’s essential to maintain effective working relationships. Barrister Gohar dismissed claims on Monday that the delay in the verdict for party founder Imran Khan resulted from a deal.

He clarified that the judge postponed the decision at his discretion rather than due to negotiations or political understanding. “We were present today at Adiala, but the court personnel informed us that the ruling would now be revealed on January 17,” Barrister Gohar said. He observed that the trial courts have misbehaved and characterized the charges against Imran Khan as fabricated to exert pressure on the PTI founder.
Barrister Gohar also indicated that any speculation regarding a deal is baseless. It has been reported that the wife and sister of PTI founder Imran Khan have distanced themselves from the discussions between the party’s negotiating committee and the federal government.
A PTI insider informed The Express Tribune that the PTI founder had distinctly instructed the party’s negotiation committee to engage and deal with the government committee following his guidelines. According to the source, the PTI founder’s wife, Bushra Bibi, and his sister, Aleema Khan, have been in contact with the negotiation committee and were providing their recommendations. This has created a challenging situation for the committee regarding whom to adhere to.
