PTI Demands ‘Unfettered Access’ to Imran Khan for Talks with Govt
The Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf (PTI) has requested “unfettered access” to the incarcerated party founder, Imran Khan, to engage in substantive negotiations with the government. In a joint press conference flanked by PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja and chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Omar Ayub stated, “Our negotiation team had requested that the government team arrange an unmonitored and unfettered meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan during the second round of talks.”
“The meeting between the PTI leadership and the former prime minister in Adiala Jail should not be monitored.” The coalition government at the Centre and the embattled PTI are expected to reach a stalemate in their ongoing negotiations. The former ruling party stated earlier today that the third round of talks between the two parties would be rendered useless if their leaders were denied access to the imprisoned former prime minister.During a press conference, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja stated, “The third sitting will be meaningless if [PTI leaders] refuse to grant permission to meet with the PTI founder in jail.”
