Pakistan Navy Prepares for AMAN Exercise and International Maritime Dialogue

Naval forces worldwide are preparing to participate in AMAN 2025, a multilateral exercise hosted by the Pakistan Navy every two years in the Arabian Sea. In addition to AMAN 2025, the AMAN Dialogue onshore in Karachi will also take place.

These two events can be used as instruments to facilitate closer maritime collaboration. The Pakistani chief of naval staff (CNS), Admiral Naveed Ashraf, addressed Naval Technology to discuss the concepts that underlie this collaboration to ensure global and regional security.

Pakistan is establishing itself as a maritime power in maritime security and defenders to increase its capabilities.

According to GlobalData’s intelligence, Pakistan’s defense acquisitions budget is expected to grow at an annual compound growth rate of 11.4 percent over the next four years. It is expected to hit $3.1bn in 2029 and $2bn in 2025.

This is in line with the Navy’s plans for the future, which the CNS has also discussed. The Navy aims to develop its own design for large-scale warships and reduce external dependence.

John Hill (JH): Can you introduce  Exercise AMAN and the AMAN Dialogue?

CNS: AMAN’s principal goal is to encourage regional cooperation to ensure the peace and order of the sea by enhancing interoperability, sharing experiences, getting to know each other, and displaying an unwavering determination against terrorists and organized crime in the maritime domain.
