Neymar has left Al Hilal by mutual consent, The Saudi Pro League champions announced following a shaky time with the Brazilian club’s all-time leading scorer.
The 32-year-old injured his knee during Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Uruguay in October 2023. He is struggling to get back to his peak.
“Al Hilal and Neymar Jr. have agreed to terminate the player’s contract by mutual consent,” the Saudi club announced in a post on X at around 7:30 am on Tuesday.
Neymar was inactive for just seven games with Al Hilal since moving from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for a reported sum of 90 million euros ($98m) in August 2023.
Brazilian media has stated that Neymar, with 79 goals in the national team, will return to his old club, Santos, after leaving the club in 2013. He then joined Barcelona.
Neymar holds the record for a football player’s most expensive transfer fee at 222 million euros ($232m) after he was transferred from Barcelona to PSG in August 2017 from Barcelona in August 2017.
