KP Operations: 30 Terrorists Killed, 8 Injured, Confirms ISPR
PESHAWAR and KHYBER The total number of terrorists, including two Ringleaders, were killed as well as eight others were wounded in separate security-related operations at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the weekend of Saturday, as per the media wing of the military.
In a different incident, four police officers were abducted in South Waziristan Upper three days ago and are now safely found.
Security forces working on intelligence successfully confronted the terrorists’ hideouts in Lakki Marwat, Karak and Khyber districts.
A statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that security forces conducted intelligence-based operations (IBO) in the Lakki Marwat district based on the reports of terrorists’ presence. The security forces successfully confronted their area, killed 18 terrorists, and injured six others in the firefight, according to the statement.
Eight other terrorists were shot down in a security operation in the Karak district.
The military media department stated that the third confrontation was held in the Bagh region of Khyber. Security forces repelled four terrorists, including their leader, Azizur Rehman alias Qari Ismail and Mukhlis. Two accomplices of the terrorists were wounded during the raid.
It stated that firearms and ammunition were confiscated in their custody.
They were engaged in a variety of terror attacks in the region against security forces and the murder of innocent civilians, as the ISPR stated.
“A sanitisation operation is being conducted to eliminate any other Khwarij found in the [Khyber] area, as the security forces are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country,” the ISPR said.
President Asif Ali Zardari, as well as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, thanked Security forces for eliminating four terrorists in the Khyber operation.
The president thanked his security force for getting rid of four terrorists in the mission in a statement released by the press section of the President’s Secretariat.
“Security forces are carrying out operations to eradicate the spectre of terrorism,” the president declared, adding that the whole nation was in unison against terror.
President Zardari also stated that his operations in the fight against Fitna al Khwarij will continue until the total elimination of terror.
PM Shehbaz acknowledged the personnel and officers from the security forces for their successful fight to stop terrorists from the Bagh region of Khyber. He praised their professionalism in removing four terrorists, including their top leaders. “We will continue the fight against the menace of terrorism till it is completely eradicated from the country,” he said.
The Prime Minister said that he and the whole nation were united with security forces in the fight against terror. He reiterated his determination to stop the devious plans of terrorists who seek to cause chaos and agitation throughout the country.
The region has, in recent times, witnessed the emergence of terrorists armed with the banned Tehreek-iTaliban Pakistan Lashkar-i-Islam, Hafiz Gul Bahadar group, and Emarat-i-Islami.
The armed group, which was seen on patrol in various regions in the Tirah valley, committed various deadly attacks on security forces and also demanded money from drug dealers within the area. They also established”dispute resolution councils” and forced residents to come before them for their concerns.
On the other hand, security forces stepped up their presence. They set up additional checkpoints in the valley, forcing militants to leave their positions and run toward the border regions of Orakzai and a few high points within the valley.
Four cops are released.
The four policemen who were kidnapped by the Omar Raghazai police station located in South Waziristan Upper were freed, according to police.
District Police officer Arshad Khan revealed to Dawn that the police officers kidnapped named Akbar Khan, Jan Mohammad, Sultan, and Naseeb Khan, were removed from the checkpoint located in the Saratoga Tehsil in South Waziristan Upper between Wednesday and Thursday night.
The official said that the four were rescued safely through the efforts of security forces and tribal elders.
