Justin Bieber Takes a Break from Music to Focus on ‘Deep Rooted Issues
The Canadian pop artist assures fans he will return with an impressive album when right. It has been nearly four years since Justin Bieber released his last full-length album, Purpose, and his supporters will need to wait a bit longer for new music. Today, the Canadian pop star took to Instagram to respond to the numerous messages from fans anticipating a new album. However, instead of providing updates about upcoming projects, Bieber shared that he is taking a break to concentrate on his mental well-being.
“I’ve spent my entire teenage and early adult life touring,” he stated. “I came to realize, as you all likely witnessed, that I was unhappy during my last tour, which is not fair to me, or to you. You pay to attend a lively, energetic concert, and I found myself emotionally unable to deliver that towards the end of the tour.”
In July 2017, Bieber cancelled the final 14 shows of his Purpose tour due to “unforeseen circumstances,” later informing fans in a social media update: “I want my career to be sustainable, and I also want my mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being to be sustainable.”
Recently, Bieber has been more open about his feelings of being “super disconnected and weird.” Late last year, he married Hailey Baldwin, and in a February interview with Vogue, the couple discussed both the joys and challenges of their new marriage. Baldwin, now known as Hailey Bieber, remarked: “We’re coming from an incredibly genuine place. However, we are two young individuals who are learning as we navigate this together. I’m not going to pretend it’s all a fairytale. It’s always going to be tough […] We’re quite young, which is a daunting aspect. We’re going to evolve a lot, but we’re dedicated to growing together and supporting one another throughout those changes.” While the couple acknowledges the imperfections in their relationship, Hailey has dismissed speculations about a potential split and stated that they do not have “trust issues.”
“I am currently very focused on addressing some of the deep-seated issues that I, like many others, face so that I don’t fall apart,” Bieber continued in his latest online message. “So I can maintain my marriage and be the kind of father I aspire to be.” (The couple has not officially confirmed a pregnancy, so it is uncertain if he is referring to the present or future.)
Bieber asserts that “nothing is more important than my family and my health” but promises that “an amazing album” will be released as soon as he can manage it. He wraps up by saying, “My style is undeniable and my drive is beyond description […] I belong at the top, whether I’m making music or not.”
