Jasprit Bumrah and Amelia Kerr Shine as ICC Awards 2024 Top Honorees
India’s speed bowling master Jasprit Bumrah was crowned by the International Cricket Association’s (ICC) Male Cricketer of the Year in 2024. New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr was awarded the Women’s Cricketer of the Year prize.
Bumrah and Kerr were awarded Kerr and Bumrah won the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy and the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, respectively, and the ICC announced its top award winners on Tuesday.
This was his second prize in the space of two days. He was named the Male Test Cricketer of the Year last Monday. Meanwhile, Kerr Kerr took home the women’s T20 Cricketer of the Year award on Saturday.
Bumrah, also India’s vice-captain for Test cricket, returned in the 5-day format late in 2023 following a prolonged absence due to an injury to his back.
The right-arm fast, 31, was the top wicket-taker in international cricket 2024. He was at the top of the charts with 71. just ahead of second-placed Gus Atkinson of England (52 in 11 games).
His average bowling rate throughout the Year was an astonishing 14.92, and he capped the Year with an average strike percentage of 30.1.
“I am truly honored to receive the Sir Garfield Sobers Award, and this recognition means so much to me,” Bumrah declared when he was selected as”the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year.
“I am thankful to the cricket community for this respect I share with India, my family, and colleagues. My primary goal is to contribute to the team and striving to reach our goals together.
“The 2024 year was highly memorable in that I won this Year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados and made as much contribution as possible in each of three different formats.
“I dedicate this award to everyone who has believed in me, the power of hard work and dreams, and to bowlers worldwide who continue to inspire and strive for excellence.”
Bumrah defeated England players Harry Brook and Joe Root and the Sri Lankan cricketer Kamindu Mendis to win the prize the sport’s authority handed out.

Smriti Mandhana has had an incredible double-win for India after being voted female Cricketer of the Year twice.
The opener scored 747 runs, with an annual average of 57.46 in the calendar year after she won her second ICC OOD award since the end of 2018.
“It is an immense joy and a matter of pride to represent my country at the highest level, and it makes me happy to play a role in helping the team succeed,” India’s vice-captain for all formats, Mandhana declared.
“I want to dedicate this award to my teammates, coaches, and family, who have been my absolute pillars of support.”
Afghanistan, the all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai was awarded the ODI men’s award by scoring 417 runs while grabbing 17 wickets.
A slender pace bowler, Arshdeep Singh, was a key part of India’s T20 World Cup win in 2024. He was crowned the Male T20 Cricketer of the Year.
Singh was also part of the All-Star T20 Team of the Year with his fellow countrymen Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Bumrah.
Sri Lankan batter Kamindu Mendis, who scored a record-breaking year of 1 451 runs across the various formats, was awarded the Men’s Young Cricketer of the Year award, and South African all-rounder Annerie Dercksen was named the winner in the women’s category.
