Harvey Weinstein Faces Blunt Response from Accuser in Court Showdown
Star actress Jessica Mann is calling out Harvey Weinstein for his recent statement in court while he fights numerous sexual assault allegations.
The former Hollywood studio chief was brought in front of the Manhattan Supreme Court on Wednesday when he said Rikers Island was “a hellhole.”
“I can’t hold on. I’m begging for you to move the date…I want to be out of this hellhole,” He was quoted in People Magazine.
The trial is scheduled to start on the 15th of April. However, Weinstein, 72, who is a lawyer, has stated that the 72-year-old “won’t be there” if his detention continues on Rikers Island following the diagnosis he received in his last year for leukaemia.
In the aftermath, Mann issued a blunt statement to the publication declaring, “The irony of Weinstein begging for the privilege to be released out of his ‘hell hole,’ is not lost on me,”
She added, “The hell he put in my hole will last a lifetime.”
In 2020. Weinstein had been found guilty of sexually assaulting Mann in the Manhattan hotel in the year 2013, as well as sexually assaulting another woman in the year 2006. The decision was reversed after it was the New York Court of Appeals decided that he did not receive a fair trial since women who weren’t included in the case were permitted to be witnesses.
Weinstein was indicted as well in September for new sexual assault charges that three victims allegedly made in New York City.
Weinstein was already given 16 years of prison for paring an actress in a Beverly Hills hotel.
