Government Redirects Two LNG Cargoes to International Market
The city of Islamabad: Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL), a public company, was able to divert two LNG cargoes from ENI scheduled to arrive in March and February for the international market.
The news reported that the company will market the two LNG cargoes through a profit-sharing model in an international marketplace, as per top officials of the Energy Ministry.
PLL has been under a contract with ENI for over 15 years, under which ENI offers one LNG cargo monthly for 12.14 percent of Brent. When asked PLL, the PLL management stated that they could not confirm the development but did not deny the existence and opted to keep quiet.
SNGPL sent a letter to the federal government on January 21st, 2025, requesting to shift 11-term LNG cargoes for 2025 away from ENI into the global market since the Power Division has refused to expand the usage of RLNG for power generation, even in the peak summer months of June, July, and August.
