China’s Shandong Port Group Blacklists US-Sanctioned Oil Vessels, Traders Report
Three traders have reported that China’s Shandong Port Group issued a notice on Monday prohibiting US-sanctioned oil vessels from its network of ports. This move can potentially limit the access of blocked vessels to significant energy terminals on China’s east coast.
Two traders shared the notice with Reuters and confirmed it by a third. It prohibits ports from docking, unloading, or providing ship services to vessels on the Office of Foreign Assets Control list, which is administered by the US Department of Treasury.
Shandong Port Group is responsible for supervising several significant ports on the east coast of China, such as Qingdao, Rizhao, and Yantai. These ports are significant terminals for the importation of sanctioned oil. Shandong Port Group did not respond to inquiries from Reuters.
