Australian Open: Medvedev, Musetti, Shelton, and Monfils Advance to 2nd Round
Daniil Medvedev from Russia, Lorenzo Musetti from Italy, Ben Shelton from the USA, and Gael Monfils from France have all advanced to the second round of the Australian Open tennis tournament.
In the opening match, fifth seed Daniil Medvedev triumphed over Kasidit Samrej of Thailand with scores of 6-2, 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, and 6-2.
Lorenzo Musetti also progressed to the next round by defeating Matteo Arnaldi of Italy with a scoreline of 7-6, 4-6, 7-6, and 6-3.
In another first-round encounter, 21st seed Ben Shelton bested fellow American Brandon Nakashima in straight sets, winning 7-6, 7-5, and 7-5. Gael Monfils secured his spot in the second round by overcoming compatriot Giovanni Perricard with scores of 7-6, 6-3, 6-7, 6-7, and 6-4.
